Abstract

This revision evaluates a proposed ‘Photon Pro’: the compact external envelope of CYC's Photon family combined with a 4,000 W peak-power and 180 N·m torque target. That specification is treated as an unverified concept input, not a manufacturer figure. The report separates four evidence classes throughout: published manufacturer data, values carried forward from the supplied concept, transparent engineering calculations, and tests still required. Flat copper hairpin windings address the thermal limit created by the small stator volume.

The integration pairs the Photon Pro concept with a 72 V pack of Tenpower 50XG tabless cells rated at 90 A continuous, mounted within the frame triangle of a 2024 Cannondale Habit HT 2. The operating case is sustained travel on flat, exposed routes in the Richmond and Vancouver region, where flat terrain removes the low-load descents that normally cool a high-output mid-drive and coastal salt attacks every exposed interface.

The Molicel P60B and EVE 50PL cells are formally excluded: the former as a supply-chain failure, the latter for catastrophic electrochemical defects. Road-load, range-sensitivity, and kinetic-energy figures are engineering calculations, not road tests. Construction has not been scheduled.
